A day out in Galloway: Things to do, places to eat in and around Kirkcudbright

In this blog, we share some of our favourite spots to eat, explore and relax in and around Kirkcudbright and the wider area. From stunning landscapes to the best cafes and restaurants. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, these recommendations will help you make the most of your visit to this beautiful corner of Scotland.

From your dome, you will see a wooden gate at the bottom of the site. Head through the gate and turn left and you’re onto the Torrs Coastal walk which takes you through the woods and out into one of our fields which has brilliant views over to Ross Island and the Isle of Man.

A new culinary experience has arrived in Kirkcudbright. Swally n’ Scran provides freshly cooked dishes to satisfy your seafood craving. Over the winter months, eat in their newly designed restaurant and enjoy their bar service which offers local spirits, beers and fine wines.

With fantastic coffee shops (Iron Brew + Galloway Lodge), great restaurants (Murray Arms, Masonic, The Ship and Gather, which is a little out of town), lovely beaches (Mossyard, Sandgreen, Carrick) there really is so much to see and enjoy. While visiting Mossyard beach why not check out 1LittleFarm shop and grab a hot coffee, or some of their delicious fresh baking, also keep an eye out for their pizza nights on Fridays.

Home of distinguished artists such as E.A. Hornel, be sure to pop into the Tolbooth Art Centre and The Stewartry Museum where his famous art work can be emjoyed. If you’re visiting during the summer months, be sure to keep an eye on the busy events calendar.

Voted Scotlands Best Thai Takeaway, this one is not to be missed. Only available if pre booked and with limited mid week slots, the Thai Kitchen is perfect for a weekend bite. Takeaway slots have to be booked via phone on 07465812331.
